My Holy Grail Makeup Products

My Holy Grail Makeup Products

After so many years of trying all kinds of products, watching reviews and looking at tutorials I came up with a list of my holy grail makeup products, which I can’t go without anymore. In the past I wore more makeup then I do now, however I was never a vampy kind of girl. So here are my favorite products to achieve my natural everyday makeup look.

Note – a perfect makeup look starts with taking care of your skin and making sure it is clean and moisturized. (To read about my skincare routine click here)

A flawless base

After prepping my skin I go in with foundation to even out my skin tone. I barely every skip this step as I am a sucker for glowing skin and even a little bit makes a huge difference. I used to go for high coverage foundation, however since my skin cleared up I am a lover of very lightweight foundations.

Unfortunately I am not using as much drugstore base products on a regular basis but I added a few to the list, which I like.

MAC Face and Body Foundation – This foundation has become my favourite as it is super natural and gives a luminous finish. A big plus is that it is water – based and therefore heat and sweat resistant. Perfect for a humid summer vacay.

Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk – Quite pricey but totally worth it. If you are looking for a medium coverage foundation then look no further. The Armani Foundation is maybe one of the best known foundations on the market and is definetly worth the hype. I used this foundation for years and love mixing it sometimes with my Mac Face and Body to give it a little more coverage. Worn alone it gives you a flawless luminous silk finish without a lot of touch ups needed.

NARS Sheer Glow Foundation – Another classic! This foundation has a beautiful finish and a great color line. It was one of this foundations I was obsessed with and kept on buying for a long time. I always have one in my storage. It has a buildable coverage and looks especially radiant when applied with a beauty blender.

Cover it up

Concealer is a must and if I don’t use foundation I would always dap a little bit under my eyes and on any blemishes I might have. It does not just make you look more awake but you also feel much better in a second (at least I do ;)) I should definitely try out some new concealers but in Germany there are limited options as we do not have a Sephora or Ulta unfortunately. However, these are my favourites. I always (!) set my under eyes with a powder.

NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer – The name basically says it all, it just does the job and covers well without looking to cakey. Also, it comes in a huge range of colours, which is a huge plus!

Becca Luminous Concealer – I recently started using this concealer to cover up any blemishes I might have. This concealer is also perfect for a No-Makeup Look and can be worn alone beautifully. Just throw a little blush over it and highlighter and you are good to go.

Ben Nye Banana Powder – Made famous by Kim Kardashian and her Makeup Artist Mario Dedivanovic, however known and used in Hollywood for much longer. This powder is EVERYTHING to me! It covers dark circles like no other powder can and lasts all day. I dust it under the eyes with a small blending brush as I tend to find it to drying when “baking”. This is the perfect color powder for my skin tone, however there are darker and lighter versions available. I did not link a place where you can buy it as it can be quite tricky e.g. I buy mine in the UK. You just need to be patient and find the best seller in your country.

Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder – I really like this powder as an overall setting powder but I believe it is not the best fit for me for under the eyes because of my skin tone. Sometimes it can look quite greyish. In general however it is a great powder and perfect for highlighting and baking. For a night out I do bake with it and mix a little Banana Powder under to get a bright radiant look, which lasts all night long.

Never forget brows

If my brows ain’t ready, I ain’t ready! This is so important, never forget to do your brows or at least have them groomed very nicely – it makes such a difference and really frames your face. I will keep it short for this as my favourite products are definitely the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz or the MAC Brow Definer. Cheaper alternatives can be found e.g. at NYX

Blush, Bronze and Highlight

To get your face back to life you need to throw some color in it. This is actually my favourite part of my routine! Of course you can play around with some eyeshadow but I won’t go in depth with that as I do not do anything to crazy and basically just use nudes and browns ( Mostly using the Single Eyeshadows by Makeup Geek).

MAC Give Me Sun Bronzer – This is my daily bronzer and definitely one of my favourites. It just makes you glow and shine and has great coverage.

NARS Laguna Bronzer & Orgasm Blush Duo – I use the Laguna Bronzer to contour as it has a cool brown shade and the orgasm blush when I want a rosy glow. This is something I always throw into my bag when going out as it is perfect for touchups.

CHANEL Soleil Tan De Chanel Bronzer –  Very pricey but a little goes a long way. I have this bronzer maybe since 5 years and finally hit the bottom of it. It has a creamy formula and blends nicely into the skin. One would not notice if you have bronzer on which i really love for that extra summer glow when I am already tanned. I would always buy it again!

MAC Mineralize Blush Petal Power – This is definitely my most used blush – peachy with gold reflects and you would not even need to highlight after using it, however I do for that extra glow.

Milani Baked Blush Luminoso – The perfect drugstore version of the famous Orgasm Blush by NARS. It has a great colour payoff and makes you glow from within.

The Balm Mary – Lou Manizer – My all time favourite highlighter. Makes you glow, shine, sparkle, whatever you want to call it – a MUST have!

Make your Eyes Pop

Last but not least, Eyeliner and Mascara. I have been using the same drugstores products for years now and really need to try out others. Somehow whenever I try High End Products I am disappointed when it comes to mascara and eyeliner. So if you think I should try something then please leave it in the comments down below!

Maybelline Cat Eyes Mascara – I have been using this for years now and actually never really tried another mascara. It makes my lashes long and separates them at the same time!

L’oreal Super Liner Extra Black Gloss – I love this as an everyday liner and it makes wing lining super easy. The downside? It can sometimes smudge a little at the end of the day.

Inglot Gel Liner – This won’t budge! If you apply it, it won’t go anywhere. It is quite tricky though as it needs some practice to apply it correctly. However if you know how to use it, it is the best liner for a long day or night out.

This is it for my holy grail makeup products and my daily makeup routine.
I hope you guys enjoyed it. If you have any questions, please leave them in the comments down below!
